Dr. Jaizan Hardi Mohamed Jais

With an impressive tenure of 38 years at PETRONAS, Dr. Jaizan has established himself as a highly credible professional in the industry. Throughout his extensive career, he has held a multitude of esteemed positions, showcasing his expertise in petroleum management, global exploration, business development, new ventures, R&D, strategic planning, technology management, capability management, and data management. Jaizan’s journey with PETRONAS began in 1984 when he joined as a Geologist after completing his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from the University of Missouri – Columbia, USA. His remarkable achievements include being recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Geology Malaysia (F.I.G.M), serving as a former Board Member to the Board of Geologist Malaysia, and holding the distinction of a registered Professional Geologist. Notably, Jaizan has made significant contributions as the Deputy Country Representative for the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in South East Asia and East Asia Countries (CCOP) and as an Adjunct Professor at the Universiti Technologi PETRONAS (UTP). Furthermore, he has enriched his knowledge with a Postgraduate Diploma in Petroleum Exploration from the University of Trondheim, Norway, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Geology from the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Mohamad Johari Dasri

With an exceptional career spanning over 35 years in the oil and gas industry, Mohamad Johari Dasri brings a wealth of expertise across the entire value chain. His exceptional leadership and management skills have played a pivotal role in driving success in upstream exploration, development, production operations, and abandonment, both in Malaysia and on the international stage. Mohamad Johari’s remarkable contributions as the Managing Director/Chief Executive of Petronas Carigali and Petronas Carigali Overseas have been instrumental in assessing and initiating various oil and gas fields, implementing brownfield rejuvenation strategies, and effectively managing procurement and logistics for smooth operations. Prior to his role at Petronas Carigali, he served as the Managing Director/CEO of Petronas Fertilizer Kedah, where he demonstrated his ability to lead and manage plant operations, including all marketing activities. He had held esteemed positions as Chairman, Director, and Executive in several Petronas subsidiaries and international ventures, further highlighting his standing as a respected industry leader. Mohamad Johari holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming, USA. Additionally, he has honed his skills through participation in prestigious programs such as the Kellogg Executive Program at Northwestern University, Chicago, USA, and the Senior Executive Program at Stanford University, California, USA. Anuar A Rahman

Executive Director

Having previously served as the Managing Director/CEO of Epoms Sdn Bhd, Anuar demonstrated exceptional leadership in the management of this wholly owned subsidiary of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB). During his tenure, he skillfully balanced prudence and dynamism to ensure the company’s success. Notably, from 2004 to 2010, he represented Petronas as the Pipeline Operation Manager in a joint venture company based in Sudan. In this role, he effectively managed substantial resources, including pipelines valued at over US$1 billion, while simultaneously maximizing profits for Petronas in the joint venture. Prior to this appointment, he held various positions within Petronas, showcasing his versatility and breadth of experience. He notably served as the General Manager for JV Malaysia Sector 3, where he safeguarded the interests of PCSB in the Joint Development Area between Malaysia and Thailand. Additionally, he held the position of General Manager for the Petronas Management Unit (PMU), where he successfully oversaw production and operations of the PSC/RSC to meet the country’s production targets. Our candidate’s educational background is equally impressive. He holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Diploma in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. Furthermore, he has been recognized as an alumnus of PERMATA and INSEAD, Singapore since 2006, underscoring his commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Mohd. Idrus Ismail

Mohd. Idrus, a highly experienced geologist, dedicated 38 years of his career to PETRONAS before retiring in 2019. Throughout his tenure, he served in various capacities within the Malaysian Petroleum Management and PETRONAS Carigali, with a strong focus on regional geology and structural geology. His expertise encompassed the assessment and exploration of the regional evolution of Sabah and Sarawak, particularly in the realm of deepwater exploration when PETRONAS ventured into deepwater acreages in the 1980s. Later, during his time at PETRONAS Carigali, he was entrusted with responsibilities related to block acquisitions and exploration projects across Africa, including Mozambique, Cameroon, and West African Deepwater. Idrus Ismail’s early research primarily revolved around the study of borehole breakout and its correlation with crustal stresses, which found practical application in the Malaysian Basin. However, his horizons expanded significantly when he joined the integrated setup of the Chad-Cameroon-Niger Operations in Niger. In these regional endeavors, he extensively utilized Global Gravity Data and Full Tensor Gradiometry, alongside disciplines such as sequence stratigraphy and seismic interpretations, to facilitate his work. Idrus Ismail earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Science from the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. This academic foundation, coupled with his extensive industry experience, has shaped him into a geologist of exceptional expertise and knowledge. His distinguished career and commitment to advancing the understanding of regional geology make him an addition to the team with unquestionable credibility.

Zul Saban

Director, Business Development

Zul Saban 1

Zul has over 30 years of experience in the oil and gas sector. He held a senior position at Petrogas E&P LLC in Oman and is now the Director of Business Development at Injaz Energy Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

Zul’s career began at PETRONAS in 1991, and throughout his career, he took on various supervisory roles, one of which involved leading the contracts management team within the PETRONAS consortium venture in Sudan. In this capacity, he played a pivotal role in representing PETRONAS and was instrumental in devising plans and strategies for the seamless transition of major contracts from the previous concession operator to the new consortium.

Zul left PETRONAS in 2004, and begun working with various exploration and production (E&P) companies across different countries. His expertise and experience have been utilized in the oil and gas industry in India, Kazakhstan, and the Sultanate of Oman. Throughout his career, Zul has contributed his skills to the development and success of these companies.

With his extensive background in strategic planning, scheduling, and developing contract strategies for a variety of projects, including turn-key options like EPC, EPCI, BOO, IPM, as well as operational contracts, he has built a strong network within the industry.

Zul, 56, graduated from the University of Louisville in Finance in 1990.  With his accomplished track record and continuous commitment to professional growth, Zul’s presence will enhance Injaz Energy’s credibility and future success by offering value creation and innovative solutions in the energy industry’s transition period.

Mohd. Zaki Awang

Advisor, Operations

With an impressive tenure of over 32 years in production technology and well services, Mohd. Zaki stands as an authority in the field. Mohd. Zaki’s track record speaks for itself, showcasing a wealth of accomplishments in completion design, strategy, and operations. His proficiency extends to the utilization of cutting-edge tools like NETool and Prosper-GAP prediction, a testament to his profound understanding of industry-leading technologies. His adaptability and strong interpersonal skills have been honed through working with multicultural personnel in Vietnam and Saudi Arabia, demonstrating his ability to thrive in diverse environments. His skill set also encompasses risk analysis and project management, ensuring streamlined and successful execution of initiatives. He has co-authored several papers such as SPE paper 84914, 113135, 114814, and IPTC 11997. These publications highlight his profound contributions to industry knowledge and innovation. Having held significant positions within esteemed organizations such as Petronas, Enquest Petroleum, and Saudi Aramco, fulfilling roles ranging from production engineer to senior production technologist and discipline expert. His experience spans a wide range of responsibilities, encompassing optimization studies, well reviews, and successful implementation of new technologies for well completion and field development.  With his comprehensive background of delivering exceptional results, Mohd. Zaki brings undeniable credibility to excel in the field of production technology and well services.

Adam Abdullah

Director, Operations

Adam’s professional journey began in the esteemed Royal Malaysian Air Force, where he served as an apprentice specializing in aviation and aircraft engines. His dedication and expertise led him to obtain an FAA License from the prestigious Aviation Institute of Technology. Following his training, Adam was assigned to the ISQW unit at the KL Base in Sungei Besi, where he worked on the Caribon De-Havilland DHC-4, a remarkable short takeoff and landing aircraft. After fulfilling his contractual obligations, Adam joined MAS (Malaysia Airlines) and played a crucial role in line maintenance work, specifically focusing on the DC-10 and Airbus A310 aircraft. Building on his extensive aviation experience, he made a significant career shift and established his own company, specializing in industrial compressors. In this venture, he gained invaluable knowledge in various fields, including AC motors, pumps, electrical systems, and pneumatics. Adam’s entrepreneurial spirit and expertise led his company to successfully design, supply, fabricate, and commission two Fire and Gas Deluge skids at the Carigali HESS offshore platform. Throughout his career, the extensive accomplishments he has achieved showcases his commitment to providing reliable and innovative solutions in the oil and gas industry. With a diverse background spanning aviation, line maintenance, and industrial compressors, Adam brings a unique set of skills to his team. His extensive experience and successful project delivery demonstrate his credibility and ability to excel in demanding environments.

 

Technical Team - Geology & Exploration

Jinhui (James) Liu

Expert, Geology, Exploration and AI

James began his career with Sinopec in 1982 as a geophysicist involved in seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation. Later, he supervised the examination of sedimentary basins and the reevaluation of hydrocarbon resources in China’s primary basins. He also conducted seismic sequence stratigraphic analysis, structural interpretation, constructed chronostratigraphic frameworks, created structural maps, and identified new plays and possibilities. Additionally, he was involved in a shallow gas exploration project in Southwest China and a sequence stratigraphy project in Lunpola Basin Between 2000-2005, he worked at Sinopec EP on new ventures, acreage acquisition, and follow-up geophysical activities. During this period, he led a multidisciplinary team increating high-resolution depositional facies models and reservoir models using seismic attributes and inversion data, resulting in over 30 drillable prospects, 25 commercial discoveries, and a significant reserves addition. From 2006 to 2012, James worked as a geophysicist involved in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation, seismic inversion, farm-in opportunities evaluation, bid rounds, farm-out decisions, prospect portfolio management, well location proposals, and post-drill analyses with several companies in Canada, focusing on the Upper Egypt Basin, SW Canning Basin, Peace River, and West Canadian Sedimentary Basin. He also evaluated Beaufort- Mackenzie Basin deepwater petroleum system during his stint with Gelogical Survey of Canada. From 2013-2016, he worked at PETRONAS Petroleum Management Unit, focusing on geological and petroleum system evaluation, 3D seismic interpretation, mapping, and prospect delineation in Sarawak Basin, Sabah, and Malay Basins. This included Cycle I-III plays (including old carbonates), Stages III-IV turbidites, fractured basement, and basin center gas projects. In 2017-2023, he began his tenure at ADNOC and finished a new mega 3D structural sequence stratigraphic interpretation. Identified, calculated, evaluated, and proposed drilling for 50 prospects. Made 3 commercial discoveries and 1 geological success. For these, he received multiple awards for new discoveries and outstanding performance. He was also involved in providing seismic inputs, attributes, and inversion analyses for the main field FDP and its extension with a higher OOIP. James is a highly prolific seismic interpreter, a proven “oil finder” and an oil professional highly committed and dedicated to his work. James holds impressive academic credentials, including a Master’s and Doctorate in Petroleum Geology from the University of GeoSciences in Beijing, China (1987-93) and a Bachelor of Science in Geophysics (1978-82). His presence at Injaz is invaluable in our journey to navigate seismic interpretation, geophysics, and AI-driven exploration workflows for regional studies, new plays, nearfield exploration, and prospect portfolio building in new ventures, farm-ins, and post-awards.
